Fe2O3 Nanowire Flux Enabling Tungsten Inert Gas Welding of High-Manganese Steel Thick Plates with Improved Mechanical Properties

چکیده
Economic welding of thick steel plates is an emerging challenge for various engineering applications. However, tungsten inert gas (TIG) arc welding, as economic and widely used method, not regarded a suitable tool to weld due the shallow penetration in single-pass operation. In this technical progress, joining austenitic high manganese 8 mm thickness was successfully performed using nanowire flux activated TIG with full narrow bead geometry. Fe2O3 compared microscale flux. Experimental results showed that fluxes, yielded maximum more than (full melt over plate) proper operating parameters single pass. sharp contrast, only less 4 pass without similar parameters. Arc voltage—time variation during process analyzed angular distortion measured after understand activating effect optimized mixture. Compared joint flux, nanoscale has larger voltage higher energy efficiency, strength distortion. The developed qualified tensile test 700.7 MPa (82.38% base material strength) 34.1% elongation. This work may pave way nanotechnology-enabling innovation application.

Structure-property Interaction in Flux Assisted Tungsten Inert Gas Welding of Austenitic Stainless Steel
Austenitic stainless steel SS304 grade was welded with active Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding process by applying a flux paste made of SiO2 powder and acetone. SiO2 flux application improves the weld bead depth with a simultaneous reduction in weld bead width. The improvement in penetration results from arc constriction and reversal of Marangoni convection. Experimental studies revealed that t...
